Quantum was engaged to provide cost management services for the restoration and renovation of Danmarks Nationalbank’s historic building in Copenhagen. The project, aims to preserve the building’s architectural heritage while modernising it for future use, with completion expected in a few years. Quantum’s role focused on ensuring cost certainty and control, which was of paramount importance to the client.
The Mandate
The Challenge
The challenge lies in maintaining fiscal responsibility in an ever-changing environment influenced by a range of issues, including external factors such as inflation, while balancing the preservation of Arne Jacobsen’s original architecture with the modern office requirements and necessary technical upgrades to the building. Additionally, the project faces significant design constraints due to strict guidelines from the Danish Heritage Agency, which limit flexibility in materials, design options, etc.
Quantum's Execution
Among other requests, Quantum was tasked with providing early-stage cost plans, risk evaluation, and procurement advice, tracking cost fluctuations caused by inflation and design changes. We are collaborating closely with the design team and client to develop a cost control strategy that exceeded industry standards. From the beggining, we were met with professionalism and deep understanding of our role in the project, which makes the cooperation exceptionally smooth.
Our meticulous approach ensures a great level of cost predictability and control, supporting the National Bank’s commitment to budget management and project excellence.
